Department of Art

The Department of Art educates and prepares professionals in the fields of art education, visual culture, curating, and contemporary art. Studying through the department, you will gain expertise and critical skills in mediating, representing, discussing, and critiquing art and other forms of visual culture.

The Department also houses the Centre for General Studies (YoYo), which is responsible for the School’s common art and theory as well as linguistic and communication studies, and provides research and teaching in university pedagogy.

The tasks of the Department of Art are research into contemporary art and art education and the provision of research-based graduate and post-graduate training of art pedagogues and professionals and experts in contemporary art. Among the core tasks of the department are high-quality artistic and art pedagogical activities that have both national and international effectiveness on all levels of society.
