Summer break of the Doctoral Programme Committee will be during 27 June - 9 August. During this time, no decisions are made (including permissions for public defences and appointing the opponents).

Applying doctoral study right

Applications for doctoral study right in Doctoral Programme in Science are submitted via electronic application form, more information at: How to apply.

Only complete applications will be processed. Supplementing the application may have an effect on its processing date.

Application times for full-time doctoral study right

Applicants applying study right for full-time doctoral studies in Doctoral Programme in Science can apply once a month, except for July, see the deadlines for the applications.

Application times for part-time doctoral study right

Applicants applying study right for part-time doctoral studies in Doctoral Programme in Science can apply only twice a year, in March and in September.

March: The application time for part-time doctoral studies is 2.-23.3.2020. The decisions on study rights are made 7.5.2020, which is also the date when the study right starts.

September: The application time for part-time doctoral studies is 1.-21.9.2020. The decisions on study rights are made 13.11.2019, which is also the date when the study right starts.

For doctoral candidates

Applications from doctoral candidates regarding the following matters are handled according to the following schedule:

  • applications for doctoral studies
  • confirming your studies
  • change of supervising professor or thesis advisor
  • incentive scholarships
  • pre-examination of the dissertation and examination of the licentiate thesis, please see separate schedule
  • graduation; approval of dissertation/thesis and the degree

The applications and attachments shall be submitted to Student Services of the Doctoral Programme. Only complete applications will be processed. Supplementing the application may have an effect on its processing date.

Annual enrolment

Doctoral students have to enrol as either attending or non-attending each academic year. Only those enrolled as attending students may complete studies and graduate. Instructions for enrolment are available at Annual enrolment
