Letter of Admission
When you have been accepted for exchange studies at Aalto University you will receive a Letter of Admission. Please note that we send the Letter of Admission only in digital form by email. Non-EU citizens can apply for residence permit with the digital Letter of Admission. Admission letters will be sent by mid-June for students arriving for the autumn term or late November for students arriving for the spring term.
Along with the Admission letter you will receive some information about what you should take into consideration before and after your arrival in Finland.
Please read carefully also the webpages targeted for all International Students . There you will find useful information about your studies and it will help you to get started with your life in Finland!
Learning Agreement/Study plan
Please note, that some changes in course offering are possible, and the schedules of your selected courses might overlap. Therefore, you should be prepared to make changes to your original Learning Agreement / Study Plan upon arrival.
Enrolment and the Membership of the Student Union AYY
New international students are expected to enrol according to the instructions sent from the Aalto School they are accepted to. As an enroled student you'll get the Aalto username and password for using the university IT systems. You will also receive your Aalto email address, a certificate of student status and the application form for student discount on the public transportation.
Membership of the Student Union is voluntary but recommended for exchange students. Please note that if you are staying in AYY's accommodation, joining the AYY by paying the membership fee is compulsory.
As a member of AYY you are entitled to get an official student card FRANK. It is really handy in Finland because with one card you can get all the student benefits and discounts.
Finnish Student Health Service has been part of the Student Union membership benefits, but exchange students are not entitled to Finnish Student Health Services anymore from the beginning of 2021.
Place a preorder for an Aalto University Library card by filling in and submitting this form. Your card will be ready for pick-up in two working days. You will need to prove your identity with a passport or other ID when picking up the card. Alternatively, you can ask for a library card when you borrow books for the first time
All exchange students will have student tutors helping them out with practicalities in the beginning of their studies. Tutors will contact you before your arrival and you will meet the tutors at the orientation.
