The grants are aimed at doctoral students of Aalto University's Schools of Technology (CHEM, ELEC, ENG, SCI) or Department of Architecture (ARTS):
- Doctoral studies or doctoral students’ long research visits abroad (Celebratory Gifts’ Fund, Jubilee Fund, and the funds of Harri Hintikka, Matti Ilmari, Kalevi Numminen, Pentti Talonen and Paavo Uronen, in total 100 000 €)
- Doctoral studies in entrepreneurship and business economics (Yrjö Uitto Foundation, in total 30 000 €)
The Foundation primarily supports full time studies. Undelayed advancement from a M.Sc. degree towards doctoral studies is appreciated. The grant may be awarded for one year or a shorter period. A preference is given to long research visits abroad, in which case the grant may also be awarded for travelling and other related costs, however, not for daily allowances and tuition fees. Material costs are not covered.
The grant may cover costs between 1 June 2020 and 31 December 2021.
The grant decisions will be made by the end of May 2020. The grant recipients will be published on the foundation's web site, with name, degree, grant amount awarded, purpose of grant, research subject area and topic of study. The application materials will not be returned.
