Climate change needs actions from all of us. Learn more about the science behind it, ponder your own relationship to it and how it connects to your study field, and discuss the topic with other students in multidisciplinary groups on a special course in period V:

CLIMATE.NOW – Basics of climate change and implications on technology and business (3 or 5 ECTS, PHYS-E0580) 28.4.-28.5.2021
 
The course will assess the scientific foundations of climate change, its effects, mitigation and adaptation to the change. During the course students will reflect how climate change is related to their own field of study, and how everyone can be part of the transformation to sustainable, low-carbon society. Course consists of lectures on various aspects of climate change, independent study of Climate.now material, online group work in multidisciplinary groups, and 5 cr course a project work. We also use an online simulation tool for investigating the different options for climate change mitigation.
The course can be taken as smaller 3 ECTS-credit course (lectures, self-study, small group work) or as full 5 ECTS-credit course (including also a group project work).

The course is open for all students of Aalto University. All students from candidate level to doctoral students are welcome to the course!

Lectures: Wednesdays 14–17, first lecture on 28.4.

Course language: The course communication language is English. Study material (Climate.now / Ilmasto.nyt) is available both in English and in Finnish.
